September 14, 2009:  Today, Meridian Reservation Systems and BoomBoat Inc. announced an agreement to provide advanced mobile reservation transaction services for Meridian’s growing customer base.   With these optional services, all hotels, b&b’s, country inns, and other properties and attractions that use Meridian’s online travel booking services will be able to offer their customers the ability to use mobile phones to make reservations, check-in and out, and provide arrival and booking confirmations, to name a few of the services.

Simple, easy to use processes coordinate these services with the individual property owner with various options available to suit the needs of any operator, from small to large. Some services are available to property owners at no charge.  Others are chargeable and are provided as optional value-added services to the property owner.

While these services are available on a wide variety of mobile devices, enhanced capabilities will be available to Research In Motion Blackberry users via the Blackberry Single Container Application, which will add location-based services including ‘3-click to book’ nearest property searches with GPS-assisted route maps; viral marketing; and traffic multiplying capabilities.  The Single Container Blackberry application will automatically select the most appropriate Meridian travel website based on user preference and geographic location.  The Single Container Blackberry application will interact with many different directory services, and other websites and will effectively multiply the potential audience for Meridian’s offering in any one location by the number application users who have the application for other reasons and are passing through a relevant area where Meridian has offerings.

BoomBoat and Meridian will launch the Blackberry application on the Blackberry Application world.  This will allow Meridian and BoomBoat to cost-effectively promote the mobile offering to over 40 million North American Blackberry users.

These services are based on BoomBoat’s ShrinkRay mobilisation platform and its associated VoiceAssist Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology, allowing mobile users to quickly, easily and safely make travel bookings and conduct other travel transactions from their mobile phone.

Property staff will benefit from additional VoiceAssist value-added services that integrate property websites with advanced voice call routing solutions providing cost effective night service lines, follow-me call routing, and other valuable hospitality-specific services.

With these services, Meridian’s hotel, b&b, country inn, and attraction customers will increase their market-share; increase revenues while lowering costs and achieving greater customer-satisfaction levels.

Initial mobile reservation service offerings will be launched in the fall of 2009 in the Northumberland and PEC region in partnership with the County of Northumberland and Prince Edward County economic development offices.
